STANDING ON SHOULDERS

Call of the Horn - In 2001, Kelly-Marie Murphy was commissioned by CBC to write a Horn trio and she took inspiration from the Brahms horn trio. The point of departure alluded to in her title is the Finale from the Brahms. With its jaunty 6/8 feel, and classic “hunting horn” writing, it inspired a lot of the fast music in the trio. We would start with a performance with the Brahms and then play the Murphy to hear the influences.

A world premiere of Calgary’s own Arthur Bachmann, a violin work written for his friend, Donovan Seidle.
