MUSIC AS PUPPETRY
Music As Puppetry is a whimsical all-ages mask-music-movement collaboration between Dance Artist Jocelyn Mah and Violinist/Composer James Watson, using their joint vocabulary of contemporary and folk/jazz idioms. The story presents marionette doll Violon under the command of the puppet maestro Gepetto. Can Violon develop her own identity and creative voice apart from Gepetto? This 30-minute performance will be preceded by an interactive presentation by ISC ADs Laura Reid and Jiajia Li geared towards young listeners.

JAMES WATSON
James Watson is an award-winning Calgary-based violinist, composer, and collaborative artist whose work spans classical, jazz, folk, and experimental music. A founding member of Music As Puppetry and several other boundary-pushing ensembles, James is known for his adventurous and genre-defying approach to music-making.
JOCELYN MAH
Jocelyn Mah is a Calgary-based contemporary dance artist, puppeteer, and interdisciplinary collaborator whose work brings together movement, music, and puppetry. Her work has been presented across Canada, the UK, and Europe, with collaborations spanning dance, theatre, puppetry, and music.
