“Light and Shadow” moves through music as a journey from brightness into mystery.

Pianist Dmitry Nesterov performs virtuosic solo works by Beethoven and Liszt, joined by his wife Olga Kotova for Prokofiev’s haunting Violin Sonata No. 1. Music that will inspire the imagination, from the grace and wit of Beethoven, the expressive lyricism of Liszt, and the introspection and exuberance of Prokofiev.

OLGA KOTOVA

Russian-born violinist Olga Kotova has been a vibrant member of Calgary’s classical music community since 1994 and has performed with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra’s First Violin section since 1996. A graduate of the Moscow Central Music School and Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory, she performs extensively as a soloist and chamber musician, including with her husband, pianist Dmitry Nesterov, as Duo Solista.

DMITRY NESTEROV

Pianist Dmitry Nesterov has enjoyed an active career as a soloist, chamber musician, and educator since arriving on the Canadian music scene as a Laureate of the first Esther Honens Calgary International Piano Competition. He performs regularly with his wife, violinist Olga Kotova, as Duo Solista, and is currently a faculty member at Mount Royal University and the Music Academy.
